We all want to have an elegant presentation for our dinner guests, but we don’t always have the time for baking or preparing complicated desserts. Dinner often takes a lot of energy, leaving precious little time for appetizers, let alone dessert.
So what do you do? This entertaining hack provides an answer.
All you need are some bulk truffles, a tray, a few small bowls and some votive candles. Pick up the truffles when you’re shopping for the rest of your dinner items and keep them in a cool place. They stay good for weeks. Choose truffles with attractive wraps that compliment your bowls and the rest of your decor. We love Seattle Chocolates and have featured their dark chocolate mint truffles here. They are delicious!
For the presentation, we recommend using identical small bowls, which will keep the presentation more elegant. Here, we’ve shown the small BIA Cordon Bleu organic bowls, which, with their curved lines, convey elegant movement without stealing the focus from the jewel-like truffles. Mismatched bowls can be cute, too, but will make the presentation more rustic, and it can be more difficult to get the right harmony from mismatched bowls as opposed to identical ones.
Before your dinner guests arrive, assemble the items, pour the truffles in the bowls and set them aside. For this post, we used Pottery Barn’s unscented white votives and their wood Benchwright tray, but use whatever candles you have on hand, as long as the colors compliment your truffles and the scent isn’t overpowering.
When its time for dessert, just light the votives and place on your dessert table.
The simplicity of the presentation is elegant and makes a lovely impact, particularly for evening entertaining!
And, obviously, you can use this hack for appetizers, too, using nuts, olives, dips, chips, or popcorn instead of truffles!
